The Semi Sweet Press story
I have a box I’ve kept with me my entire life. The shape and size has changed through the years, but it’s contents have remained the same, only growing year after year. I’ve lugged it up and down countless flights of stairs, across an ocean, and back and forth across the U.S. more times than I’d like to admit. It’s a box of cards and letters I’ve received since childhood. Birthday cards from my grandparents, letters from high school friends, and St. Patrick’s Day cards from my mom (the only person who sends me these). I’ve even kept cards from frenemies and my horrid stepmother. I can’t throw them away. There’s something about a card that was picked out just for you, hand-written, stamped, and placed in the outgoing mail. It’s a simple gesture but communicates that someone out there is thinking about you. And you can read it over and over, as many times as you like.

Cards to let your favorite person know someone out there is thinking of them.
As a latch-key kid in the 80s and 90s, drawing was a solitary and reliable pastime to keep myself occupied. In school, it was a forgivable excuse for my lack of athleticism and popularity. Now, it’s my livelihood, in more ways than one. It’s an occupation of course, but it’s also therapy, self-expression, entertainment, and a tool to communicate love, celebration, and reconciliation.
Semi Sweet Press started with one card, Anatomy of Christmas, that was designed as a promotional piece for my freelance business in 2012. It quickly grew to an entire collection of cute and quirky cards, hand-illustrated, sustainably produced, and created with love from my lived experiences and perspective. I hope you'll find one that resonates with you. To let your favorite person know someone out there is thinking of them.
